Some experiences are beyond what words can fully capture, but I’ll try to share mine here. This is the story of my meeting—though I didn’t realize it at first—with Swami Samarth of Akkalkot, a powerful spiritual Master known as a Datta Avatar. Swami Samarth’s life was a string of divine miracles, each more extraordinary than the last, and his name has been etched in my memory ever since I read about him. But a few years ago, something happened that turned my fascination into a deeply personal connection.
Visiting Swami Samarth’s Samadhi
It all began when I decided to visit Swami Samarth’s Samadhi with my friend Rajesh Kamath. It wasn’t a rushed decision—it was something that had been calling me for a long time. So, one fine day, we made the journey to Akkalkot, eager to connect with this legendary Master’s energy.
The moment we arrived, we headed straight to the site where Swami’s Samadhi rests. It was serene, sacred, and carried an inexplicable sense of peace. After offering our prayers, Rajesh stepped away to buy flowers while I waited near the steps. That’s when something unusual happened—something I’d only later come to understand.
A Mysterious Encounter
As I stood by the steps, I noticed a woman in traditional Maharashtrian attire sweeping the area. She was wearing a vibrant green sari, and though I couldn’t explain why, there was something about her presence that felt oddly familiar. Her movements were graceful, almost otherworldly, and her face carried an air of kindness that immediately drew me in.
I approached her and asked, “Would you like to have some food?” She smiled warmly and said, “No, it’s time for me to go inside,” before walking away.
At first, I didn’t think much of it, but later that day, Rajesh and I stumbled upon an image of Swami Samarth dressed as a woman. And just like that, everything clicked. Her face—the woman at the steps—was the same as Swami’s face in that image. It was him. Swami Samarth himself had appeared before us, and I hadn’t even realized it in the moment.
Swami Samarth: The Master Who Could Bring Back the Dead
Swami Samarth was no ordinary saint; his miracles have been documented and cherished by devotees for generations. One of the most incredible stories about him is his ability to bring back the dead.
There’s a well-known tale of Swami walking along a riverbank one day when he saw a man nearby. Swami casually told him, “Why are you wandering here? Go home, your child is crying. I’ve asked your father to take care of the child.”
The man froze in confusion. His father had passed away years ago. How could this be? But he didn’t question it for long—he rushed home, and what he saw left him speechless. His deceased father was indeed sitting by the cradle, soothing the crying child. The moment the man arrived, his father disappeared.
It’s stories like these that make Swami Samarth’s life so extraordinary. His miracles defy human logic but inspire unshakable faith in those who experience them.
A Stranger, A Guide, A Miracle
During our trip, another peculiar incident took place. Rajesh and I were trying to park our car near one of the sacred sites when a man suddenly appeared. “You can’t park here,” he said. Then, as if he knew us, he added, “Where are you coming from?”
Before we could answer, he said something unexpected: “I was reading about Swami Samarth this morning. He told me, ‘My people are coming, and you need to help them.’”
Without hesitation, he got into our car and directed us to several significant spots related to Swami’s life. He shared insights, pointed out landmarks, and helped us navigate the area like a local guide. Once he was done, he asked us to drop him off.
Later, we arrived at a sacred spot where Swami used to sit under a tree. As we looked around, our eyes fell on a poster on the wall. It was a tribute to the man who had just helped us—only it said he had passed away 20 years ago.
Rajesh and I stared at each other, utterly stunned. That man wasn’t just a guide; he was Swami Samarth’s way of ensuring we found our way.
